The new theory group is a joint initiative of the Departments of Physics and Astronomy and of Applied Mathematics. It is supported by the University of Sheffield, STFC and EPSRC.

Our main research interests and activities include:

STFC and EPSRC PhD studentships are available for projects in the above areas, see the PhD projects page for further information.

We also have a list of funding opportunities for postdocs. We are currently not considering applications for postdoctoral positions.

See http://www.shef.ac.uk/research/stories/sciences/18.html for a popular account on our research on dark matter and LHC physics.

From 30th June to 3rd July 2008 we held our biannual advanced Summer Institute New Trends in Particle Physics and Cosmology.

We also organised BUSSTEPP 2005, the British Universities Summer School in Theoretical Elementary Particle Physics.

We hosted a Dark Energy Meeting on Wednesday 10th November 2004, organised by Carsten van de Bruck and Elizabeth Winstanley for the Gravitational Physics Group of the Institute of Physics.
